Victoria “Vicki” Aucoin (February 5, 1930 – August 13, 2021)

Vicki was born Victoria LeBlanc in Cheticamp, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on February 5, 1930 to Marguerite and George LeBlanc. She was the fourth born of 6 siblings. She grew up there, working at the local fish factory before moving to Sydney, Nova Scotia when she was 18 to become a homemaker. She returned to Cheticamp and on April 25, 1950, she married Charles Aucoin. Together they built a farm which tragically burned down in 1952, prompting a transition to a mink farm. In 1957, they moved to Waltham, MA. where they lived for 20 years.

In 1986 she and her husband purchased a RV and travelled for 8 years, eventually settling in St. Petersburg, FL. where they bought a home. Eventually, in 2002, they moved to Sunset Palms in Pinellas Park, FL.

About Vicki

She was a mother figure to many besides her own two children. Her modest upbringing gave her a toughness that isn’t often seen nowadays. She was a meticulous homemaker, a fantastic cook and baker – there was no going hungry on her watch. She had a quick wit and loved to laugh, she loved to have fun with family and friends. If you were lucky, you could see her play the jaw harp or spoons to a lively Acadian song. She loved music, ice skating, playing cards and later in life, shuffleboard, bingo and bunco. She even won trophies. She was always lucky when it came to bingo, much to the chagrin of those playing with her. She was very religious and would always attend weekly Mass. She is survived by her loving son, daughter, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, younger sister, brother, and many who still call her mother and friend. She will be terribly missed.

Vicki earned her wings on August 13, 2021 when she was reunited with her husband, Charlie, of 63 years. A Mass in her honor will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church is located at: 4661 82nd Ave. N., Pinellas Park, FL 33781.
