Rodolfo Francisco Varela, known to all affectionately as Rudy, was born June 25, 1940, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Growing up in Argentina his love for soccer was evident, spending hours playing with friends. As he grew, he also found a love of chemistry and became a chemist while attending trade school.
In 1964 Rudy immigrated to The United States. Settling in Queens, NY he came to follow his American Dream. He married and had 2 daughters. All the while working for several companies he eventually settled in Merchantville, NJ and raised a family.
In 1980 he was offered a position as senior research chemist for Jim Walter Corp. in St. Petersburg, FL and moved the family to the Sunshine State.
Rudy loved to travel, visiting Europe, Asia and even returned to his native Argentina several times over the years.
During his travel he found love a second time. In 2005 he married, and he made a home after a time to live in Bangkok, Thailand with his wife, Jill. But, after a time he found himself back in the US.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo and Claudina Varela and his daughter Carolyn Varela Coward.
He is survived by his wife Chiraphorn Susphrasri (Jill), his daughter Rosemary (James) Williams, his sister Marcelina Magnelli, his nephew Leo (Kira) Magnelli, his niece Andrea (Max) Magnelli and his beloved grandson Christopher Coward
