Rachel Elaine Filiau

Rachel Elaine (Gosselin) Filiau 84 years old of Pinellas Park, FL passed on December 21, 2023, at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL. She was born in Rochester, NH on October 8^th, 1939 and came to FL in 1996 as a snowbird from Ossipee, NH. She grew up in Somersworth and attended Holy Rosary High School in Rochester, NH where she met George.  Rochester was also where they married in 1959.

Rachel enjoyed her time split between the summers of NH and the warm winters of Florida. She and George eventually became full-time residents of Pinellas Park, FL in 2017.

Rachel is the daughter of the late Alpha and Georgiana (Roy) Gosselin of Somersworth, NH.  She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Parish in Pinellas Park. Rachel worked for many years as a paralegal where she loved her career. She was also an accomplished cross stitcher and won many state fair blue ribbons for her work.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years George, son Ricky and wife Linda of Pembroke, NH, son Gary and wife Kelly of Lockhart, TX, and daughter Patty Hersom and husband Charlie of Rochester NH. She has one older brother, Ronald Gosselin of Somersworth, NH. Rachel is also proud “Memere” of 5 grandchildren, Kristen Abram, Shane Filiau, Christopher Hersom, Craig Hersom, and Chantal Filiau, and of 10 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, followed by a celebration of life gathering at Mainland’s Unit 2 clubhouse, 4320 Mainlands Blvd. N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Rachel to the Alzheimer’s Association.
