Mary Monica Vollmer, 73, of Saint Petersburg passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 21, 2023 following a long battle with cancer. Mary smiled and said she was ‘fine’ right up until the end. She was born June 21, 1950 to Adam Conrad Vollmer and Blanche Mae (Foster) Vollmer in Mineola, New York.
Mary was a retired librarian and a proud U.S. Navy veteran. We have many sweet memories of Mary. We both loved the mountains, and she was my faithful hiking companion. Mary could hike rings around me, she was very active most of her life.
Mary is survived her sister, Elsie Strom, son, Craig Truman-Vollmer, 3 nephews and 5 great nephews and nieces.
A Military Committal Service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Thursday October 5, 2023 at 9:00 am conducted by the U.S. Navy Honors Team & American Legion Post #273, Madeira Beach.
