Mary E. McCoy, was born in Pennsylvania on March 9, 1945, her family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she attend school and graduated from Northeast High School.
She and husband Johnnie worked transporting vehicles across the United States. Not too long after that they began a long and wonderful relationship and worked on many project/businesses together including the St. Pete Auto Auction, Lakeland Auto Auction, and continued the Orlando Auto Auction and all while she was working for Florida Power’s Corporate office in St. Petersburg.
Not long afterwards, Johnnie went to West Virginia to start a new venture, that company was the Mid-Mountain Coal Company while she held down the fort here in Florida. In 1977 she and Johnnie established the 28th Street Auto Sales and they retired in 2004. Mary enjoyed retirement by pruning and preening their beautiful half acre yard.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, Johnnie C. McCoy; her stepdaughter, Cathy (Petite) McCoy Miller and daughter-in-law Doreen M. Carney. She is survived by her sons, Kevin L. Carney, Sr. and wife Mayor Sandra L. Bradbury Carney & Brian K. Carney and his wife Jodi, Thomas K. (Kirby) Carney; stepson, John H. (Jabo) McCoy; brother-in-law, Willis (Sonny) McCoy; son-in-law, Earl Miller; stepbrother, Frank Ross and my nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary and Johnnie’s Celebration of Life and Grave-side Ceremony at Sunnyside Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
