July 15, 1937~March 28, 2024

Mary Ann Weeks, age 86, passed away at Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick campus and opened her eyes in glory with our Savior. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Alderman officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Mary Ann was born at her home in Echols County on July 15, 1937 to parents George Lawton Carter and Laura Blanche (Kinsey) Carter. She grew up as the only daughter of a tobacco farmer on a simple farm outside of Lake Park, Ga with brothers William “Billy” and younger brother Terry. After graduating from high school in Lake Park she went on to study education at then Valdosta State College (University) and soon began a teaching career that would last 31 years until retirement.

The love of her life grew up North of those sandy dirt roads of rich farmland and she found “the one whom my soul loves” in a future artist and graphic designer Glynn Henry Weeks. Their 35 year marriage which began in 1960 eventually led them to St. Petersburg, Florida and was filled with beloved neighbors around their Harbor Isle community with many travel experiences and, most importantly, service in their church, Fifth Avenue Baptist. Although they never had children of their own, Mary Ann found herself the adopted mother to classrooms of 1st graders over her career retiring from Westgate Elementary in 1993. She was also a second mother to her loving Nephews and Niece and her home was filled with pictures of their children whom she adored and loved.

After the passing of her husband in 1995 she found herself in 2013 drawn to family in Brunswick, Ga and discovered another cherished group of dear friends in her community of Peppertree Crossing and her new church Pine Ridge Baptist.

In addition to her husband Glynn, she is preceded in death by her parents and her brother William “Billy” Carter (Maxine) of Lake Park. She is survived by her brother Terry Carter (Louise, who was closer than any blood relative sister), Nephews Hannan (Kathy), Sidney (Holly), Kevin(Mandy), and niece Susan Carter. Her great nieces and nephews with emphasis on the “great” in her eyes for sure, are Hannah

(Ryan)Rawlings, Rebecca Raines, plus Zackery, Zane, Kasey, Greta, Laura, Tara, Ansley, Ella, and Kenley Carter.

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning April 2, 2024 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church from 10 am until the funeral hour. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Burial will be held at Memorial Park in St. Petersburg, Florida TBD.
