It saddens us to inform you that Kay Lorraine Blumerich, 59, of Clearwater, Florida passed away at HCA Florida Northside Hospital on June 25, 2024, with her children by her side.
Kay was born April 1, 1965, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Richard Raymond Blumerich and Lorraine Jewell (Stobbs) Blumerich. Kay resided in Clearwater, Florida with her husband of 38+ years, Steve Atherton.
Kay loved her eight cats. She and Steve enjoyed sitting outside watching their chickens while the cats played. Kay loved everyone and always put others before herself.
Kay is survived by her husband Steve Atherton, daughter Heather Nelson and granddaughters Layla and Lilly Nelson, her beloved son Wayne Kirchen, his wife Britteny Palashoff-Kirchen and grandsons Isiah “Izzy” and Lucas “Luca” Kirchen, and her mom Billie Hardy.
She is also survived by siblings Chris and Keri Tant, Rick and Missy Blumerich, Irene and Ken Melton, Keven Blumerich, Steven and Valerie Blumerich, Pam Blumerich, John Atherton and Beth Wasey, Dawn Atherton, many nieces, nephews and family friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Lorraine Blumerich, in-laws Ada and Louie Houghton, siblings Diane Blumerich, Terry Blumerich, Timmy Blumerich, and cherished others.
She was loved by many and enjoyed spending time with her close friends Karen McCoy Drumm, Roger and Debbie Caldwell, Mark and Jay, Penny Blankenship who became family, and many, many others.
A special thanks to the Stathas Family who loved Kay and Steve and helped make so many dreams become a reality.
Her wishes were to be cremated and have a Celebration of Life, which will be announced at a later time, by her children.
