Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Subbert Geraghty of Pinellas Park joined the angels Monday, November 1, 2021. Born April 16, 1948, Kathy grew up in Fairmont, Minnesota and graduated from Fairmont High School (Class of 1966). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Comprehensive Social Sciences from St. Cloud State University (Minn.), and her Master’s of Science in teaching from the University of Wisconsin. She began her teaching career in Wisconsin, then moved to Florida after marrying Peter Geraghty, spending nearly forty years on the faculty of Dixie M. Hollins High School. Kathy’s favorite subjects to teach were Economics, American National Government, and State and Local Government. At Hollins, she made a lasting impact; participating in the school’s mentoring program for first-year teachers, winning a National Science Foundation Scholarship, being named Pinellas County’s Adult Education Teacher of the Year and as a finalist for Teacher of the Year. Outside of school, Kathy loved to sew, knit, crochet, and bake all kinds of sweets (especially with her grandchildren). Kathy loved being around her family, kids and grandkids. She was an avid reader who could devour several books in a week, and she loved watching the Miami Hurricanes for any sport, just like her beloved husband Peter Geraghty.
Kathy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Anton and Helen Subbert, her brothers Roger and Ron Subbert, her adoring husband, Peter, and is survived by her children; son, Sean Patrick (Lorie), daughter Erin Eileen, son, Kyle Peter (Stacy), granddaughters; Brianna, Annaleah and Kathryn, grandsons; Landon, Mason and Troy, sister, Marcia Hoppe of Sioux Falls, SD, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 11am Saturday, December 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7809 46th Way N., Pinellas Park, FL 33781. Lunch will be served for all family and friends after the service at 6350 123rd Ave., Largo FL. 33773. Interment at Bay Pines National Cemetery, beside her loving husband, Peter Geraghty, will be at a later date.
