Jose Ramon Perez

April 04, 1946~January 12, 2024

Jose Ramon Perez passed away in peace on Friday, January 12, 2024, in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

He was a retired resident of Pinellas Park, after 50 years of Church Planting and Pastoring in Alabama, Tennessee, and all over Cuba. Jose leaves behind an extensive legacy of loving care and passionate service about sharing the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was born on April 4, 1946, in Remedios, Cuba, in a family of eight siblings. His wish was to die in America, the land of freedom.

He married his bride Rosalina 55 years ago in Palma Soriano, Cuba in 1968, and moved to America in 1999. Jose is survived by his wife Rosalina Larduet, son Otoniel Perez (wife Olga Perez) daughter Lidia Ether Aguiar (husband Niel Aguiar) daughter Loida Ilean Garcia (husband Ramon Garcia), and six grandsons and a granddaughter, Abdias Ramon Garcia, Ahniel David Aguiar, Abimael Daniel Garcia, Jonathan Jose Aguiar, Misael Otoniel Garcia, and Lidia Mazola. He was a proud great-grandfather of two, Mathew Ahniel Aguiar and baby girl Eliana Rose Aguiar. Graciously all his grandkids called him abuelo “Cuba.”

Jose wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, pastor, and friend, but the most famous title was “El Alcalde (the mayor).” At family and close friends’ gatherings, there was always a funny anecdote where most of the time he was the protagonist. He loved to walk and exercise, he loved to preach and write sermons as motivational resources for his followers and readers, and he enjoyed making disciples, and uniquely blessing others, leaving a legacy of Faith, always glorifying God.

Our hearts are saddened by the unexpected loss, he will be deeply and dearly missed by many, but we know that he went home. One of the most impactful sermons I can recall him preaching was Isaiah 55:6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. He recognized the urgency for all to make sure we Seek the Lord while there is still time. Get ready as he was when today he was not on the morning waking-up list on earth and to the walking call in Heaven.

A small private family memorial will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, as a celebration of life with details to be determined.
