Joann Louise Evans, 81, of St. Petersburg, passed away February 5, 2025 at Hospice Woodside in Pinellas Park.
She was born on March 1, 1943 in Williamsport, PA. to John and Martha (Blanchard) Wager. After graduating from Williamsport Area High School in 1961, she married James M. Evans on February 22, 1963. Together they celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage, and she lived a life centered on family.
For two decades, Joann and James traveled the country with their four daughters before settling in Muncy, PA. In 1995, they moved to St. Petersburg where she found joy in the Florida sunshine. While her health still allowed, she, Jim and her little dog Molly returned to PA. to spend time with her growing family each summer. Joann formerly worked in retail at various locations around the country. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the hospital in St. Petersburg.
She leaves behind her husband James and their daughters, Tammy Evans (Darcy Wright), of Clarkstown, Sherry (Rod) Heckman, of Muncy, Laurie Evans (Chuck Sharr), of Watsontown, and Jaime Evans, of St. Petersburg, and two sisters, Charlotte (Albert) Clark, of Mechanicsburg and Kay (Barry) Kinley, of Cogan Station. Known to them as “Nana”, she is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Joshua, Vanessa, Brooke, Taylor, Gage, Felisha, Kayla, Brandy, Kyra, Jocelyn, and Connor; eleven great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Zoey. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Isaac.
Friends will be received Saturday, February 22nd from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Grenoble Funeral Home, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, PA. where the funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park in Muncy.
