James Montgomery Doyle, known to his loved ones as Jim, passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age of 87 in St. Petersburg, Florida, after having a wonderful morning with his family. Jim was born on July 8, 1936, in Springfield, Ma. He was a kind, generous, loving, proud, and adventurous man who lived life to the fullest.

Jim was predeceased by his first wife Eva May who passed in 1994 after 39 adventurous years of marriage. Jim moved to St. Pete with Eva in 1979. They raised three children together.

Jim had another chance at love with his wife, Susan (Susie), who was by his side throughout their adventuresome journeys together for 28 years.

He is also survived by a loving sister Margaret (Peggy) Canada, his daughters Maureen (Reenie) McFadden and Kathleen (Kathy) Hinkle (spouse Ed), his son James (Jimmy) Doyle (spouse Barbara).  Jim’s memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Joy Holley, Victoria Ribal, Shannon Hinkle, Melissa Miller, and Dianna Doyle. Jim had 5 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and happiness. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Katherine Moore and stepson Christopher (Kit) Kuhn (spouse Kathy) and their children and grandson in Washington state.

When Jim was 17 years old, he ran away from home to join the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for 26 years in USMC until his retirement at the rank of Major in 1977. Jim served a tour of duty as a Communications Officer in Vietnam in 1968/69. Jim’s dedication and commitment to his military associations were unwavering, and his service will always be remembered.

After retiring from the military, Jim pursued a career in the field of logistics engineering, applying his expertise and skills to various endeavors. He was a graduate of George Washington University, where he furthered his education and honed his knowledge.

Outside of his professional life, Jim had a passion for adventures that included world travel, camping, hiking, bike riding, SCUBA diving, and volunteering. He found solace in the great outdoors and embraced the thrill of exploration. Jim had a passion for reading, which allowed him to broaden his horizons and delve into different worlds. He loved basket weaving and sharing them with his family and friends.

Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

In honor of Jim a memorial service will be held on January 27, 2024, at 2 PM for family and friends at Addington Place, 4600 54th Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33711.
