Helen A. (Piascik) Sullivan (aka: Schatz, Mom, MoMo, Mo), left this world peacefully on Feb. 7, 2024, one week after celebrating her 89th birthday with her family. She resided in the Mainlands of Pinellas Park, FL.

Helen was born in Providence, RI to Chester and Albertina Piascik and attended Mt. Pleasant HS. Following high school, Helen met the love of her life, Charles (Sully) Sullivan. Together they built a life with their daughters, Sandy, and Cheryl. As a military wife, she followed her husband to Augsburg, Germany where Sully contracted spinal meningitis and encephalitis, which resulted in him becoming a paraplegic. Upon returning to the States, Sully went through rehab in Roxbury VA Hospital, and after going through one winter in a wheelchair, in 1964, they packed up and moved their family to Florida. Here they established their lives in the sun. This was the beginning of Helen’s role as “caregiver”, but it was not the end.

She went on to provide care and love for her husband until his passing, both her parents, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as some of her dear friends. She never complained and many times stated that she “would do it all over again”. And if this wasn’t enough, she then went on to volunteer for Suncoast Hospice (Purple team) providing respite care for the patients’ loved ones…. always a caregiver.

Following Sully’s passing away in October 1983, Helen went to work at Bay Pines VA Hospital. She was never afraid of hard work, starting out working in the kitchen and working her way up into the Records Department, where she retired after 10 years of service.

Her love for her family and friends was unbeatable.  She was often referred to by many as “Mo”, a name she was proud to be called, and she loved keeping up with friends and their children on Facebook.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Albertina, husband, Sully, daughter, Cheryl Lincoln as well many dear and close friends. Those who Helen has left behind will honor her memory by living their lives and continuing her legacy of caring for and about others: daughter, Sandy Kravitz and Keith; granddaughter and “grandson” Kristin Waechter and Doug;  granddaughter and “grandson”, Cayla Lincoln and Chris Natal; grandson, Noah Lincoln, great-grandson and great-granddaughter, Kaden and Karsyn Waechter; her dear friends Connie Lorigan, Bob and Terrie Hawkins, her “other daughter”, Terry Arnold and Johnny, as well as all of those whose lives she touched over the years.

Helen was loved by many and will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Mom / Mo has found her peace and has finally been reunited with the love of her life, Sully.  Rest peacefully and spread your wings. Mom, you and Dad will now be able to watch Kaden and Karsyn play the games they love, holding the best seats in the house.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Anthony’s Hospital, any of the Veteran’s homeless shelters or services, and/or SPCA of Pinellas.

Helen will be celebrated at a 1 PM Mass on Sat., Mar. 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pinellas Park, FL.

Our thoughts and prayers go out Sandy and her family. Though we hadn’t seen Helen in many years we kept in touch on occasion. Her kind words to us a few years ago during a difficult time still resonate with us. We will be forever grateful for this. God speed Helen as you journey Home. May you find peace in the company of those who preceded you. The families you leave here will now have one more watchful eye to watch over and guide us. Rest in Peace Helen. Matt and Carol Ulbin and family.

As the other daughter, I have been truly blessed by having Mo as my other Mom. Her love, kindness, and caring ways will continue to live on in our hearts. If ever anyone deserved a first class ticket to her final home it was this special person. She has been my other mom since I was 12! To say she will be sorely missed is an understatement! She deserves her special place in heaven. A life well !ived! We are all better people for having been !oved by Mo. May God wrap you up in his loving arms. Until I see you again thank you for loving me! Love you Mo🙏❤

I will be eternally grateful that almost 40 years ago Mo “adopted” me and I became her “other kid” and in the process I gained another wonderful family. There is a very special place in Heaven for Mo. Her caring, kindness, love and laughter was felt by everyone that knew her. My heart aches! Mom sends her condolences and sympathy as well. Rest in Peace Mo, we love and miss you! 💓
