Gail Marie Griffin

Gail Marie Griffin, 83 passed away peacefully, after a yearlong valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by her family on April 5, 2024.

She was raised in Detroit, Michigan.  Her passion for helping others led to her completing a Bachelor of Education from Wayne State University, going on to becoming an elementary school teacher.  Later, while teaching full time and raising two children, she attended night courses at Florida Atlantic University, successfully earning a Master of Education with specialization in reading.  She will be remembered for helping countless young students, many with learning challenges, discovering the joys of reading.

Family was important to Gail.  She cheerfully decorated her house each month with appropriate holiday decor, looking forward to spending time with her son, daughter, and granddaughter.  She loved watching butterflies seemingly float from flower to flower.  She loved the ocean and would seek relaxation on the beach or sailing on a boat.

She was a relentless fighter who, in the face of a devastating health diagnosis, never accepted “no” as an answer.  Her faith carried her through the dark, scary, painful moments. She refused to give up hope, seeking 2nd and 3rd doctor opinions all the way to the very last moment.

Gail is an inspiration to those who knew her.  Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
