July 17, 1948~October 25, 2022

Donna Barton Mayo, 74, of Pinellas Park passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 25th.  She was born on July 17, 1948, in Ohio to Steve and Agnes Barton. Donna’s family soon moved to Beaverdale, PA where she grew up as the oldest of three alongside her siblings, Steve and Debbie.  As a young adult, she settled in Washington D.C. where she met and married the love of her life, Paul in 1979.  They moved to Florida shortly after where they started their family.  Before moving to Florida, Donna had a job in the medical field working with cancer patients.  After moving to Florida, she became an entrepreneur, always running businesses that allowed her flexibility to be a mother first.  She ran a successful in-home daycare, a children’s consignment store, and an online resale business.

Donna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Paul, her brother Steve, and sister Debbie.  Donna is survived by her two children: Paul (Cathy) Mayo II, Brittany (Grant) LaDuke and stepdaughter, Larkin (Barry) Stetler.  “Grandma” leaves behind seven grandchildren: John and Barrett Stetler, Paul III and Jackson Mayo, and Grant, Sadie, and Isla LaDuke. Donna took so much joy in spending time with her family.  Anyone who knew her, knew they would get an earful of updates and moments of pride about all grandchildren weaved into any conversation.  As a mother, she spent countless hours cheering at baseball and softball games, taking her children to activities, and always opened her home to friends.  Donna also loved to shop.  She had a talent and eye for finding good deals.  It is a standing family joke that any trip, vacation, or errand could turn into a full day of shopping with a carful of finds.  From the outside it may appear that she had a love of things, but the items purchased were rarely for herself. She took great joy and pride in providing for her family and those she loved.

Donna will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Saint Matthew Catholic Church. All are welcome to join the family for refreshments in Bethany Hall after the service.

Saint Matthew Catholic Church is located at 9111 90th Ave, Largo, FL 33777.

I am So sorry to hear about your loss. It’s been a rough year for your family.
I remember the good times in daycare and the McDonald Birthdays. The excitement setting up the shop and watching Paul and Brittany grow.
She will be deeply missed by all.
