Dolores Ann (Capp) Myers

September 10, 1948~August 28, 2024

Myers, Dolores Ann (Capp), Lt. Col. (USAF, Retired), daughter of Michael and Anna Capp (deceased) passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 at the age of 75 at the Accent Hospice in Largo, Florida. Dolores was a resident of Seminole, FL for many years. She will be dearly missed by all her family relations and friends.

Dolly, as she was commonly known by family and friends, was born on September 10, 1948 and grew up in Edwardsville in Northeastern Pennsylvania. She graduated from Edwardsville High School with the class of 1966, where she was active as a cheerleader, participated in theater, and played string bass in a youth orchestra.

Following graduation, Dolly enlisted in the United Stated Air Force, went on to get a college degree and entered Officer Candidate School, from which she received her commission. She served in USAF for 32 years mainly as an Air Traffic Controller and was stationed at numerous USAF bases around the world. She retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1998.

Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Richard Myers (USAF), and son Michael.  She was the oldest of 5 children; brother Dr. Michael S. Capp (Pittsburgh, PA), Nancy J. Sharon (White Haven, PA), Diane M. Spitzer (deceased), and Annette F. Capp (deceased).

Dolly was a dynamo. When she was around, everyone knew it. Always ready for fun as well as being a very giving person. She loved to shop (for the finer things of course), was quite an accomplished swimmer in her younger years, and who could forget her driving with friends in the red Chevy convertible down Main St. in Edwardsville?

Dolores had an extensive family of Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, and Nephews as well as numerous friends who will miss her dearly. Foremost among those friends is her neighbor James (JD) Gann and his loving family, Malou, AJ and Luis. They have been more helpful to Dolly through the years than words could ever express. Dolly’s family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dolly, as was her way, was a fighter right to the end. She will be interred on September 5th with full military honors in the Veterans Administration Cemetery in Sarasota, FL. A viewing will be held from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at the Taylor Family Funeral Home (5300 Park Blvd. Pinellas Park, FL 33781). Interment will immediately follow. Family and friends can send condolences to the Taylor Funeral Home website or to Michael S. Capp, 143 Connie Park Drive, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.

We’ll all miss you, Doll. The world has lost one of its most precious gems.

Dear Michael, family and friends of Dolly:

I am at a loss for adequate words to express my sadness hearing that Dolly passed. I had the privileged opportunity to know Dolly during our high school days at Edwardsville, truly a fun, loving gal. One has to wonder if Heaven may have just received one of its most special angels, in Dolores.

Seashells remind us that every passing life leaves something beautiful behind. May beauty live on in your memories and bring you peace. With deepest sympathy…

God Bless,

Thomas Step
