March 29, 1952~April 10, 2023

Diane Irene Gaffield, 71, of Pinellas Park, Florida died on April 10, 2023, after a seven-year battle with Atypical Parkinsonism. Diane was born on March 29, 1952, to Charles and Shirley Payne in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She was married to Irv Gaffield for 35 years and the mother of three children: Angelique Craig, Shawn Kramer, and the late Jimmy Blake. Diane has 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

She started her career working for the state of Massachusetts as a social worker. After leaving that career, Diane most enjoyed her job with the Salvation Army as a driver and a bell ringer. Diane and her husband Irv served at their church in the children’s ministry before her illness prevented her from doing so. One of her proudest experiences is when she went to Romania on a mission’s trip to deliver Christmas gifts.

Diane loved to travel and had been to Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia to name a few. She loved to tell people the extravagant stories of her adventures. She was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. Her outrageous, fun personality kept everyone around her laughing, and even as her health declined, she never lost her sense of humor.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday April 13, 2023, 2:00pm at

Diane was a bright light in a world that was dark sometimes. You were shining no matter what,
when I would come over and clean. God Bless you and your sweet soul. Tawney Taylor.

Angelique and Shawn, I went to St. Patrick Grammer School in Lawrence, MA with Diane. We lost touch for many years and finally reconnected several years ago on Facebook. She always had that beautiful smile. I pray that your happy memories bring you comfort as you celebrate the life of your precious mother.

I have so many childhood memories of Diane’s smile and laughter. She and my mother used to spend lots of time just talking on the phone since she’s been in Florida. Rest in peace Diane.
