Daniel Henry Somers, 82, of Largo, passed away December 30, 2021, after a long illness. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Merville and Evelyn Somers, and resided in Pinellas County since 1948. He grew up on Indian Rocks Beach and was an avid saltwater fisherman. He particularly loved catching mullet with his cast net. He honorably served as a clerk in the Army from 1959 to 1961.
He is survived by his former wife, Julia Yvonne (Floyd) Somers, who cared for him during his final weeks; and daughters Natalie Fluharty (husband Allan) of Deale, MD., Julia Boisvert (husband Richard) of Palm Harbor, and Maria Chapman (husband Kenneth) of Land O Lakes; sisters Marilyn Nase (husband Daniel) of Tallahassee and Elizabeth “Bitsy” Frisch (husband Homer “Dave”) of Clermont; and 6 grandchildren, Cason Fluharty, Kaelen Boisvert, Spencer Fluharty, Collette Boisvert, Jaylen Chapman, and Matthew Chapman. Always around people, he also left behind many friends he met along the way, who may have known him as their insurance agent, real estate agent, car salesman, or pizza delivery driver.
