Cecilia Braga De Guzman

November 22, 1944~November 15, 2024

Cecilia Braga De Guzman, 79, joined our Creator on November 16, 2024, at Karmanos Cancer Institute after an abrupt battle with cancer.

Cecile, as she was fondly called by many, was born in Burgos, Pangasinan in the Philippines.  She moved to New York City shortly after she graduated from BS Nursing from the Far Eastern University in the Philippines.  She started her nursing career at the Polyclinic Hospital in the 1970’s but devoted most of her years of service at the Metropolitan Hospital.  She was well-respected in several administrative and nursing positions, and she took pride in providing superior care to her patients.  She retired in 2006 and eventually moved to St. Petersburg, Florida.

She loved to travel and had seen many beautiful places in her lifetime.  Her favorite destination was still the Philippines where she spent her vacations with family and friends.  She was always a joy to be around.  Her generous and thoughtful heart will always be remembered.  She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife, a caring aunt, and a loyal friend.

She was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Amado, in 2013, and in 2016, they married and shared stepchildren, John (Avril) and Amirose (Ivan).

She is survived by eldest sister Julita (Igmidio), as well as nephew Ronald (Millicent), several nieces Elizabeth, Jennifer (Peter), Roselle, Vivien (Wilfredo), Kristin (Ronald), Anne (Dubert), grandchildren, and in-laws Dale, Perla, and Henry Sr. (Luz).
