Cecil Bradbury

Cecil Wayne Bradbury, of Pinellas Park, was born September 29, 1941 to Bryon Cecil and Dorothy Wayne Bradbury in Mullens West Virginia. Cecil went by Wayne in Mullens and graduated from Mullens High School in 1960 and went to Beckley College, then moved to Hollywood, Florida to finish college where he worked at a Grand Union Grocery store and met Margaret Ham, soon after they married. Cecil was offered a job at Chrysler Philco Corporation in Louisiana. After moving to Louisiana they welcomed their first child, Sandra Lee Bradbury (Carney) in 1964. Cecil was offered a job working at NASA in Mission Control in Texas during the Apollo and Gemini missions. ECI (aka E-Systems), now Raytheon, called offering him a job here at their St. Petersburg facility and he moved here with his family in 1968. They purchased their home in Pinellas Park and in 1975 they welcomed their 2nd child, Andrea Jacquelyn Bradbury (Dupuis). Cecil ran for city council of Pinellas Park in 1978 and was appointed Vice Mayor in 1980 then appointed Mayor in fall 1980. Then Cecil ran for Mayor 1981 were he served until his retirement in 1998.

He retired from Raytheon in 2001. During his retirement he traveled the and photographed 49 out of 50 States in the US. He enjoyed traveling, riding his UTV in the mountains of West Virginia, spending time with his daughters and 5 grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren, Aunt, cousins, extended family and friends.
