Billy Don Stevens, 88, Pinellas Park, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born in Lebanon, Missouri, on September 14, 1936 to Van Stevens and Gladys (Biggs) Stevens. On April 22, 1958, he married Sandra Wood, and she preceded him in death in 2000.
Billy proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Computer Operator for 20 years and found fulfillment working at the VA for another 20 years before his retirement. He enjoyed assisting his wife with various home projects. He enjoyed watching Peyton Manning play football. He shared special moments watching baseball with his grandson, Wesley, despite not being a big fan of the sport. He also enjoyed country and western music. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and their families in and around Gas City, Indiana.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherrie (Wes) Ganote of Pinellas Park and Linda (Steve) Woods of Summerville, SC; grandsons, Wesley Ganote of Pinellas Park, Michael (Nicole) Ganote of Atlanta, GA, and Steven Woods of Summerville, SC; granddaughters, Cassandra (Christopher Hollinger) Ganote of Swanton of VT, Sara Smail of Summerville, SC, Jenny (Kevin) Carls of Summerville, SC, Christy (Cody) Carey of Summerville, SC, and Jessica Woods of Summerville, SC; great-grandsons, Blake and Samuel Ganote, Eli Carls, and Kedric Woods; and great-granddaughters, Cheyenne and Zoie Ganote, Ella Sons, Helena, Aileana and Rhea Olivarez, Olivia and Maya Williams, and Anastasia Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van Doran Stevens and Gladys M. Coleman; wife, Sandra Stevens; sisters, Catherine Velarde and Bonnie Grimm; as well as brothers, Claude Stevens and James Stevens.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Billy’s life will begin at 11:30 am on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Storey Chapel with Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 pm at Marion National Cemetery.
