Agapito “Iking” Enriquez was born on August 18, 1932 in Lemery, Batangas, Philippines. He was the second oldest of 6 children.
He joined the United States Coast Guard and served for 26 years. After his retirement, he became a Correctional Officer and worked at the Pinellas County Department of Detention and Corrections. He then began a new career at the United States Post Office, as a mail carrier in St. Petersburg, which he loved, since it was outdoors and on a bicycle, for the next 20 years.
Agapito was a very devout Catholic and a dedicated member of many prayer groups including one at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ybor City and the Sacred Heart Santa Nino group. For many years, he was a part of a group of Filipinos who brought the Santo Nino Devotion to all parts of Florida.
He loved to travel the world. He went on many pilgrimages such as to Jerusalem, Lourdes and Fatima. He went everywhere, from the North Pole to Australia. He loved to play his slots for entertainment and more often than not, won. He loved to cook for others and his lumpia “egg rolls” were famous and always requested.
He married his high school sweetheart, Alberta “Betty” in 1960. She passed away after they had been married for 44 years. Many years later he was blessed to find love again and married Alicia Bartolazo.
Agapito is survived by his wife Alice Bartolazo, son Enrial Enriquez and his wife Jennifer, daughter Jessica Enriquez-Morrissey & his granddog, Duncan, daughter Myra Enriquez-Gorr and her husband Tim Gorr and their daughter, his only grandchild Lauren. Also, survived by Alice’s children EJ and wife Stephanie Bartolazo & his daughter Emma, Phillip and wife Michelle Bartolazo and their children Joshua, Sophia, & Angelina, and Arvin and his child Samuel.
