James Alan Good, age 75, who was born in Dayton, Ohio, and lived in Seminole, Florida, since 1983, passed away on July 25, 2025.
Jim retired from the United States Postal Service after 34 years as a Letter Carrier and was an avid, lifelong member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, attending all the monthly meetings, and served as President of Branch 599 in Tampa, Florida, for 9 years.
He was also quite the animal lover, especially of cats, having had six over the last several decades; Sam, Squeaker, Misfit, Sasha, and Rosie, all gone over the Rainbow Bridge, and Sabrina, adopted as a stray from the Largo SPCA in 2021, now five years old.
Jim also loved birds and impeccably cared for a bird feeder in his backyard, keeping it clean and well stocked, paying particular attention to adding black sunflower seeds for the cardinals, but was also excited to see the woodpeckers and bluejays that would visit.
He loved working in his yard and was especially proud of his “Buddha Belly” Bamboo, which he purchased in 2014 and always kept perfectly trimmed.
Jim also loved baseball, especially the Rays, and particularly enjoyed attending games with his son Mark. Earlier in life, he also coached the team his sons played on for the Citrus Park Athletic League.
He was also very active in the Boy Scouts, when his sons were younger, and enjoyed going on many overnight camping trips with them and their troop.
He and wife Marilyn relished attending concerts together, having seen artists and bands including Tom Petty, Al Stewart, Todd Rundgren, Jethro Tull, Steely Dan, Beachboys, Bob Dylan, and the Eagles. They particularly loved seeing Paul McCartney and Wings, and Bruce Springsteen, a favorite. A particularly fond memory was when he and Marilyn attended a concert in Cleveland with Larry, his brother, and Larry’s now deceased wife, Debbie. Jim also loved 60’s Rock, particularly the Doors, the Beatles.
One of the most unforgettable and amazing experiences he and Marilyn shared was a 10-day trip to Italy for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They toured Venice, Florence, Padua, Rome, Tuscany, Pisa, Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii and had the time of their lives.
Jim was the beloved husband of Marilyn for 56 years, loving father of Alan and Mark Good, grandfather to Giovanna Good, Mark’s daughter, loving brother to Tom (Nancy) and Larry (Debbie) Good, and son of the late Frank and Dorothy Good. He was beloved by many friends.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 20th at Blessed Sacrament Church, 11565 66th Ave. N, Seminole, FL 33772.
If you wish to send flowers, please send them to Taylor Funeral Home, 5300 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, FL 33781, or in lieu of flowers, send a donation to The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) https://spcatampabay.org/tribute/.

Dad, you are the best father a son could pray for. You always supported me in life, from baseball, playing in bands, college, being a chef and everything else that you taught me. God took you because it was your time. Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we will return. I will miss you until I join you, God willing.

To the Good Family,
Jim was a good brother-in-law to our family. A fantastic husband to our Sister, Marilyn, and I am sure a great brother and friend to you. He was and named so as a Good father to his son’s Alen and Mark. I’ll remember our times best when Jim lived here in northern Ohio. Attending family functions and enjoying time with our nephews Alen and Mark. He will be missed by us all. Jim, thanks for sharing your time as you could. Love you and we will miss you.

Jim, you have always been a great friend and letter carrier brother. We were able travel around the country with the NALC. The time you went with me to Madison Wisconsin for Treasure training
Obama was speaking at the University and we were stupid enough to walk through the deep snow to the Auditorium and they ushered is into a huge waiting room and said it would be about an hour and a half wait . We looked at each other and said let’s go back to the room and watch him on TV . It was freezing and snowing . We were good friends then and Marilyn and my wife Kathy were able to become good friends
We were able to go to dinner before all the meetings
I will miss you brother and I Will do my best to keep up with Marilyn
Rest well and be at peace
Love you Brother

I met Jim at carrollwood post office in 1985. We had walking routes next to each other. we would have lunch together because I had an air conditioned car. My wife Kim and I would meet Jim and Marilyn , Don and Colleen Waites for local 5k races. After the runs we would go for breakfast. I will never forget the 1987 dedication Skyway 10K run. 10,000 walkers and runners. We enjoyed the free beer. Also the card games at different houses. Don had his own card table and would carry it with him. Jim and I went shooting at the old Tampa Police Range on Hillsborough Avenue. Jim was not just a gentleman, But was very intelligent. He always had a book with him. We had some great times together and he will be truly missed. Are sincere condolences to Marilyn and the boys and the rest of the family, RIP my friend.
