Joseph Martin Carey, 48, of Pinellas Park, FL passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Joe was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Florida when he was very young.
He was a great friend to many people, loved being sociable, and never missed an opportunity to have fun. Joe was an amazing listener and was always there to lend an ear to anyone in need. He had a big heart and made it his mission to spread kindness and put a smile on everyone’s faces.
Joe’s career as a Sign Journeyman spanned 30 years. He was a craftsman in his field and loved his work.
He is survived by his brother Michael (Elaina Lilly) Carey; sisters Kathleen (Jeff) Oliver, Patricia (Mark) Contey, Virginia Ortiz, and Rebecca (Corey Stotts) Carey. Joe is also survived by his nephews Oscar “Oki”, William and Jason Ortiz, Bryan and Matthew Contey, and his niece Grace Oliver.
Joe is pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Marguerite “Peggy” Carey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at “The Plex” – 4422 76th Ave N, Pinellas Park, FL 33781.

He was a great man. Worked hard and is one of most generous person and did everything he could to be there for everyone he came in contact with. He is greatly appreciated and missed.

He was a great man. Sweet,kind and a smile that made you smile. We went to high school together and then reconnected years later. We didn’t have enough time together since we reconnected, but I will cherish every moment we did have together. I still have our last text before he went to heaven will keep it close to my heart forever. Miss you Joe ❤️ love and hugs to his family. He was a one of a kind man ❤️ forever in my heart.
