Stephen J. Kuzio

87, of Pinellas Park, Florida passed away March 25, 2018.

Stephen John Kuzio, 87, of Pinellas Park, FL passed away Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018.  Born in New Cumberland, West Virginia, March 18,1931, he was the son of the late John J. and Katherine (Harasiuk) Kuzio.

Steve graduated from New Cumberland High School and attended West Liberty State College where he received Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education (Class of 53).  After graduation, Steve enlisted in the United States Army and served in a post war Germany.  Upon his return from service, Steve returned to his hometown where he began his lifelong career teaching elementary education.  He received his Master’s Degree in education from West Virginia University and taught for 33 years at New Cumberland Elementary. In addition to teaching, Steve also coached many sports at the High School and Jr High level.  Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track& Golf.

Steve was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Mary Kirpan, Ann Derda and John Kuzio. He is survived by his wife Irene (Sudik) Kuzio.  They were married May 31, 1958 and would have been married 60 years. In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his four Children, twin daughters, Carol Kuzio and Barbara Dodson, both of New Port Richey, FL.  Stephen Kuzio and wife Pattie of Clearwater, FL, and Robert Kuzio and wife Missy of Hudson, FL.  Five Grandchildren, Chris Dodson, Mike Dodson, Jessica Kuzio, Stephen Kuzio & Cheyenne Kuzio.

Upon Steve and Irene’s retirement, they fulfilled their dream of warm weather, the sun and the beach when they moved to Florida in 1994. Steve, an avid all sports fan, was also able to pursue and enjoy his passion of golf year round. In addition to family survivors, his friends and the many students and athletes he has taught, coached and mentored throughout his life, Steve, a humble man, also leaves behind 14 Hole in Ones.

The family thanks the staff at Tierra Pines Center for their excellent care, love and compassion.

Visitation: at Taylor Funeral Home on Thursday April 5, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm.

Mass: at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday April 6 at 10:00 am

Interment: at Florida National Cemetery on Friday April 6 at 2:00 pm
