Mary Tarvis

Mary Frances Tarvis, wife of the late Serafin William Tarvis, passed away on June 8, 2018 in St. Petersburg, Florida, surrounded with the love of her daughters. Mary was born and raised in Providence Rhode Island moving to Seminole Florida in 1977. She Married Bernard James Dolan in May 1954 and remained married to him until his death in June 1961. In December 1965 she married the late Serafin Tarvis and together they RAISED a beautiful family of 8 children. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker until her youngest child went to High School at which time she entered the workplace working for both Albertsons and Publix Grocery store chains.   She was an amazing mother who always put the needs of all 8 children before her own needs. She was an advocate for not only the rights of her own children but for all children. You could find city council meetings and school board meetings advocating for the children.  Mary was proceeded in death by her oldest son Bernard James Dolan, who was married to Liliana Dolan when he died. She is survived by her daughters, Gladys Roldan, wife of Angel of St. Petersburg, Mary Millard, wife of Brian of North Providence, RI., Patricia Taft, wife of Craig of North Providence, RI., Maureen Boberg, wife of Paul of St Petersburg, Julie Castaneda, wife of Frank of Clearwater and Donna Bruington of Vermont, and the late Alan Tarvis; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Additionally she was the adopted mom to her children’s friends, too numerous to name. She was the “lady” and a very special one. Mary was an avid bingo player who enjoyed her Wednesday afternoon bingo at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the last 20 years.  She has been a member of Word of Life Church for the last 15 years where she enjoyed the love and fellowship of her community. Mary will be best remembered as the world’s best Nana, whom will be missed so very much by all the people who's lives’ she touched.

A celebration of her life will take place on June 23 , 2018 at 11am at the World of Life Church at Palm Lake located at 5401 22 Avenue North , St Petersburg 33710.

I didn’t get to see my adopted mom very often but when I did it was always a good time. I will miss those visits but have many memories to look back on. God Bless you, Mary, and everyone whose life you have touched.
Love you always,

It was a joy to have known such a special being that God created. This woman was an example of what we all were commanded by Jesus to do, “love one another as I have loved you.”

We moved in next-door to Mary 40 years ago. We had five small children and she came over to introduce herself to us. She took our clothes and washed and dried them until we were able to buy a washer and dryer of our own. This alone will show what a wonderful woman Mary was. She watched our five children grow into adults and was always there for us when needed. She was one of the sweetest women I have Or will ever meet. My family will always have a special place in our hearts for her. She will definitely… Read more »

To the entire Dolan, Tarvis, Bruington family our sincerest condolences from the Calandrelli and Sangiovanni family. My mother in law was one of the strongest women I had the pleasure of knowing. She loved me as one of her daughters since I was 14 years old. I pray her and my husband are reunited as mother and son and will continue to watch down on all of us until we meet again. Prayers of peace and comfort to each and everyone of her daughters and their families.
