Kat Andrews

In Loving Memory of a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, and a good person and friend, Alexandra Katrin Andrews (Kat), passed in her sleep at the hospital on May 8, 2021 after succumbing to rapidly progressing symptoms resulting from a health condition she had been living with and managing for years. A good friend, Paul Riegert got it right about Katrin when he said, "If there is one thing we can say about her is that she lived her life and faced her mortality on her terms....and we respect that.  Florida will never be the same without her and I miss her already."  Everyone loved Katrin and will miss her Love and positive enthusiasm of life, and it was her wish and desire for everyone to live each day as if it were a gift and celebrate life....

The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, to please feel free to make a donation to the Friends of Strays, one of Kat's favorites.     http://info@friendsofstrays.org

It is so hard to believe that you are gone, my sister; you were the absolute best! I only find solace in the fact that you are no longer in pain, and that you can watch over us from above. Please guide me forever, I will need you always. Know that you did the most amazing job with your family, one to always be proud of! We will love you till eternity!

We were so fortunate to know Kat’s kind, generous and warm heart. She was always happy and welcoming with her wonderful smile. She brought light to all of the activities that we did together. It was always a pleasure to spend time with her and her family. She will be greatly missed by all of us in the homeschooling community.

27 years ago I moved to IRB not knowing anyone. I moved into an apartment on 7th Ave. The next day I got a knock on my door from my neighbors Kat and Khris! From there it was friends for life. There are too many memories and laughs to share. The main thing is I had two of the greatest friends from that moment on. Memories will last forever. Smiles will last a lifetime thinking of all the things we did back then! My heart goes out to you Khris, I know how close the two of you are. My… Read more »

Kat was such an understanding, loving, caring, generous, kind, and passionate person. She helped raise two wonderful kids. We will greatly miss her. Condolences and prayers to her family, including her kids, her husband, her sister, her mom, and anyone else I may be forgetting. I enjoyed many great conversations with her throughout the years. Rest in peace, my friend. Love, Maureen, Perry, and Adam Jacques

We will deeply miss Kat. She welcomed us as new homeschoolers and included us in all of the coop and activities. Kat and I walked the track at the rec during homeschool PE and I enjoyed our talks and the motivation she showed me. Kat and her kids showed so much kindness during the difficult times our family faced and we are so blessed to have known the wonderful friend Kat was. Our hearts and prayers are withTom, Sami, and Adam.

Wow, what perfect pictures of her. Especially the one on the right. Her beauty, playfulness, shyness about herself, loving and gentle personality, compassionate sense to everyone and all creatures alike, all shine through in this picture. Wow. She was my friend and I miss her.

The Andrews family have been my ‘across the street neighbors’ for many, many years and I will truly miss Kat’s beautiful smile and kind words. I never knew she was ill. She was so active and kept her family learning and enjoying life. Sami and Adam are two of the most kind and considerate young people you could meet. Kat and Tom, I commend you for that. Rest in Heaven, Kat. Watch over your family and us neighbors. I can’t help but think of you every time I look out my front window or go outside. I will miss you.… Read more »

Kat and I have run in the same circles since our pre-mom lives. She always was smiling, kind, and just nice to be around. Fast forward to our mom years and Music w/ Mar classes…the whole class singing Mr Froggy’s song to our kids and our kids singing back. She was a model for me me as a mom…so laid back and gentle with her son and daughter. She really inspired me and helped me just sit back, take a breath and enjoy the journey. Since then, our kids have been in various activities together off and on through the… Read more »

As the next door neighbor to the Andrews family, I would often see Kat coming and going with her children. I have no doubt that Sami and Adam were the dearest treasures in her life. Over the years I know that she instilled so many of her values, enthusiasm, and appreciation for life in them. As a recent widow, I can absolutely relate to Tom, and the loss of his partner in life – one I’m sure he thought he would grow old beside. It is a profoundly devastating experience. My heart truly breaks for the three of them, but… Read more »

We have known Katrin since she was a baby. As she became an adult, we have been awed by her wisdom. Katrin intuitively knew that she did not need to teach her children to be independent. She knew that if she completely filled her children’s dependency needs as infants and toddlers, that that would enable them to naturally become independent. Katrin knew that she did not need to teach her children a rigorous “one size fits all” curriculum from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She knew that children are naturally curious and eager to learn about the world. She had faith… Read more »

Katrin,  You gave so much positive energy to your children and all that love you planted inside them will continue to grow. You will be with them always. When they are kind to others, you are there. When they smile, you are there. When they plant a garden, you are there. The dedication to your children’s education and personal growth is an amazing example to all and it shines through in your children.Your gentle soul and kind spirit were evident to everyone who met you. You left this world too soon and our hearts are broken. You are a beautiful, genuine… Read more »

Katrin was an amazing mother, wife and friend. She had such a kind spirit that was contagious and always had a way to make you feel welcome. My summer memories from my childhood and even into adulthood all circulated around the Andrews family down in Indian Rocks Beach. They’re memories that I will never forget and will cherish for as long as I live. I want to extend my condolences to the entire Andrews Family, Mutti and Khris. You are all family to me and I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I have only heard the news today that Kat passed. Truth be told I had not been in touch with her for many years, we worked together at the Pinellas Extension Service during happy times, long ago. Back then we were part of a unique team of wonderful people working together making a difference, it was a great time. I remember her as good friend who was kind, concerned and very effective and a delightful person to work with and be around, a truly excellent person. Even though our paths crossed for only a short time and I am grateful… Read more »

I grew to know Katrin during recurring visits when we were children. We lived in different families many hours apart, but in a significant way we grew up together. Whether it was at her house in Maryland or mine in North Carolina, whether it was at our grandparents’ dream house in Fort Myers or the Coyne cottage in Emerald Isle, we met again and again, often for weeks at a time, and it always felt like family when we were together. As an only child, it was a profound joy and a priceless gift to be included in a group… Read more »

Kat was everything wonderful you could ever want or need in a dear friend. She always put the needs of others before her own and she was so thoughtful and considerate in everything she did. Her smile and state of perpetual happiness would light up the room and you couldn’t help but let the stress of the day melt away when she was near. She had such a sense of reason and held the respect of those around her. Her sense of humor was one of her best qualities (we can hear her laugh when we close our eyes). Her… Read more »
