James M. Masterson, 95, of Pinellas Park, passed away March 21, 2019. Mr. Masterson was born in New York City, New York to Edward J. Masterson and Edna (Bowers) Masterson Kabrel. A graduate of St. Joseph’s University, he was Sales Manager for American General Insurance Company, serving the company for 37 years before retiring in 1987. A lifelong public servant in Easton, Pennsylvania, Mr. Masterson served on the Easton Redevelopment Authority, Easton City Council, two terms as President of the Easton Area School Board, and was the first delegate from the Easton School District to the Northhampton Community College. He also served on the Easton Area School Authority and was a past-Chairman of the Easton Democratic City Committee.
A veteran of World War II, he served on B-17’s with the 8th Air Force in England. He was a 67 year member of Rice-Ebner American Legion Post #588, serving two years as Commander; a member of VFW Post #1290; Liberty Hose Company, and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Easton Kiwanis Club and a recipient of the Hixson Award in 1998; delivered Meals on Wheels for over 28 years and was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary J. (Shannon) Masterson; son, Michael (Maureen) of Palmer Township, PA.; daughters, Maureen Weiss and Maria (Bryan) of St. Petersburg; brother, Frank of Hawthorne, NJ.; two Grandchildren, Brock & Erin and two Great-Grandchildren.
