Howard A. Scavelli, Jr., 85, of Pinellas Park, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on September 10, 2020. He was born on February 26, 1935, in Philadelphia, and spent his childhood in Eschbach, PA. Upon graduation from high school in 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served a tour of duty as an Infantryman with the 373rdArmored Infantry Battalion in Wildflecken, Germany. Once honorably discharged, he married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary and together they moved to Florida where he devoted his life to raising seven healthy and faith-filled children. Howard was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the past 60 years. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and a Fourth-Degree Knight of Columbus, as well as provided a Catholic education for all seven of his children. He was very skilled with his hands, and had a gift for organizing and problem solving, all which served him well in providing for his family as a self-employed Home Improvement Contractor and as Hardware Department Manager for Sears Department Store. He also had a natural gift for teaching which he generously shared to help improve the quality of many lives. His playful sense of humor and mischievous pranks kept everyone in laughter and will be sorely missed! During retirement he enjoyed many travels abroad.
