Daniel Hansen

Daniel “DH" Richard Hansen, 74, of Kenneth City, Florida, passed away, Sunday, Aug 18, 2019. DH was born October 11, 1944 in Stamford, Connecticut to Anna and Hans (Roman) Hansen. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1962 and was ultimately transplanted to Florida, shortly afterwards where he graduated Barber School and worked for a lawn service. In Oct of 1972, DH started at the Pinellas Park Police Department where he would spend over 31 years perfecting his craft in Law Enforcement and serving the community. After retiring, DH took another job with the Pinellas County School Board where he served as a SRO for 10 more years. He enjoyed to work and never really retired even after retiring. DH loved to fish, piddle with the boys working on anything from lawn equipment to derelict boats, go on boondoggles or most importantly spending time with his grandkids or babies as he called them. Whether he was taking them to school, wrestling, lunch and a movie, fishing also known as "catching" mentoring or just watching them he was his happiest and smiled.

DH is survived by his two sons, Daniel Richard Hansen and his wife Nereida of Kenneth City, Shawn Casey Hansen and his wife Sarah of Masphee, MA; his daughter Dawn Brown and husband Chris and his grandchildren, Danielle, Daniel, Maggie, Jack & Noah. To say DH was survived was only by his immediate family would be a disservice to many people. Throughout his life DH was a mentor, friend and father to many people that he worked with and helped raise along the years. His legacy will continue in our hearts and memories for the generations to come.

In lieu of flowers donations to C.A.S.T for Kids or The Angel Fund would be greatly appreciated.

My biggest support thru my darkest time. Thank you and I will always love you.

DH was a great mentor to me and I owe my entire career to him. He shaped my life greatly. He was the best cop I’ve ever met. He was also a great dad and all around human being. I strived to be like him in many ways. He loved his daughter and sons with his whole heart and was proud of them. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. He will be missed greatly by all of us who’s lives he touched.

Whenever I came to visit in Florida, Dan and Patty would treat me as if I was a family member. Had such great times with Dan And his family. He is sorely missed.

CDR Shawn Nesser, USCGR

My deepest condolences. May perpetual light shine upon him.

Shawn and lil Dan, thinking of you guys! Your dad treated all of your friends as his own kids, met him a few times with you guys, and he treated me like he knew me forever. I never worked with him during his law enforcement career but after hearing all of his great accomplishments and achievements during his career, I wish I did! Shawn, you can reach out at any time! Sorry for your family’s loss.

I’m a transplant from Ct. (Barbara Potter Broadhurst). Knew the Hanson family well. RIP
