On Monday, January 14, 2019, Charles Bakanas, Jr., aka Chief, passed in peace at his home in Pinellas Park. He was 74 years old.
Charles was born on April 25, 1944 in New Britain, Connecticut to Mary and Charles Bakanas. He retired from the Pinellas County School Board as a welder in the Maintenance Department. Charles had a passion for Nascar, Football, Harleys and Rock and Roll.
He loved sitting on the front porch of his home chatting with his friends and waving at everyone who passed by. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. All who truly knew him loved him.
His father, Charles, Sr. and his mother, Mary, preceded Charles in death. He is survived by his many loving family and friends. A private memorial service will be held on February 23, 2019 and his internment will be held at the Bay Pines National Cemetery on March 12, 2019.
