Richard H. Westra, of Seminole, Florida, passed away on October 4, 2021, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Betty Lou Westra (Westveer). Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Richard was the son of Henry S. and Henrietta (Steenport) Westra. He was the third of four children including his older siblings, Joan and Robert, and younger brother Donald. Richard proudly served three years in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. His tour included stations in California, New Caledonia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. After graduating from Central High School in 1947, he attended Davis Tech, Wisconsin School of Photogrammetry. Richard retired as Director of Tax Mapping and Property Description from the County of Kent in Michigan in 1985. Many of his real estate properties descriptions are still used today. Together Dick and Betty raised three sons, Richard A., Douglas L., and David A. Their family grew to include several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
